Best Massage Chair Review: 5 brands made it!

Welcome to our review of the Best Massage Chair Review.

Did you know that eight of ten Americans are stressed?

Clinical studies have shown that massages can relieve stress.

However, not everyone can afford to hire a massage therapist every day.

That’s where massage chairs come into play. Massage chairs are investments toward your happiness, your way of managing daily stress without breaking the bank.

There are a TON of massage chairs on the market today. Some of them are cheaper Chinese knock-offs and others are made to last.

Unfortunately, once a purchase is made — if you’re not satisfied with the chair — it takes effort to assemble, dismantle, and return it to the supplier. Often you’ll also get charged a 20% restocking fee.

You want to avoid these pitfalls.

How ironic is it to be stressed out about purchasing the perfect massage chair when the very thing you buy is supposed to relieve you from it?

That’s where we come into the picture. We spend a lot of time evaluating and reviewing massage chairs so you don’t have to.

Today, we’ll give our recommendation of the top brands on the market for massage chairs.

Just a tip from people who have bought and reviewed a ton of these massage chairs:

The good ones are pricey.

It’s cliche, but you get what you pay for when it comes to massage chairs.

Without further ado, let’s begin.

Kahuna Massage Chairs

Kahuna is the Michael Jordan of massage chairs.

When it comes to features, it’s got them all. All of the bells and whistle is included with Kahuna’s chairs.

All of Kahuna’s chairs are FDA approved as medical devices. They go through rigorous testing before they are delivered to the customer’s door.

Features include:

  • L-track, 4 roller massage system
  • Air cell system (compression massage)
  • 3 position zero gravity & space saving tech
  • Accommodates customers up to 240 lbs and 6’4”
  • Body Scan Technology

The new age L-track massages your body down to your bottom. It’s a nice feeling.

Zero gravity is real. There are 3 positions for zero-g and one of them will raise your feet above your heart.

Many competitors require 15 to 30 inches from the wall in zero-g position, Kahuna requires 5 inches because of their space-saving technology.

Full Body Scan adjusts the massage chair to cater to a personal massage experience just for you.

The airbag system employed by Kahuna works. You can feel it. Cheap competitor massage chairs have ineffective airbags.

It is built for bigger and taller people. Up to 240 lbs weight and 6′ 4” height.

One of the few brands that offer white glove service. They set up a time to deliver and install the chair for you.

Kahuna has great customer service. You’ll get someone who speaks English and someone who knows what they’re talking about.

They recently updated their newest model to include extra padding near the feet, increase the timer button to 30 minutes, and add a remote holder. All in response to customer feedback.

My favorite program is Yoga-stretching. I mean, this thing bends you backward as if you were on an exercise ball.

Pros:

  • High-end massage chair with all the features of a luxury massage chair
  • Targets massage from neck to butt
  • Easy Assembly
  • Increase blood circulation and body relief
  • Easy to use remote

Cons:

  • Feet massage still may hurt a bit because of the thin padding
  • No way to save settings

Luraco iRobotics 7 Plus

If Steve Jobs built massage chairs, it would look a lot like Luraco’s iRobotics 7 Plus.

The iRobotics 7 is one of the only massage chairs on the market that has been studied and proven to benefit your health. Dr. Michael Olphin from Weber State University experimented.

Luraco is a pioneer in massage chair technology. They are the frontiers in innovation. As a result, they have many patents under their name.

And no, they are not cheap.

Features include:

  • Runs on an Operating System
  • Patented smart touch interface
  • Stores 5 user settings
  • Heart Rate and Blood Press Monitoring
  • Seats up to 6′ 7” and 300 lbs
  • Noise reduction technology – very quiet
  • Real Genuine Leather

iRobotics 7 is a medical-grade massage chair. They have both UL and FDA approval.

It’s also the brand of choice for US military bases and Veterans Hospitals.

It’s the only massage chair that uses genuine leather for all touch surfaces.

A total of 100 airbags and 12 motors are used to power this thing. It’s a powerhouse.

Intelligent sensor technology personalizes the massage experience for all body shapes and sizes.

Full Body Heat with 5 levels of varying intensities.

Luraco is the only brand I’ve researched that is endorsed by multiple celebrity athletes such as Mike Bryan (Bryan brothers, tennis), Ken Duke (PGA pro golfer), and Jerome Williams (NBA Legend).

Pros:

  • Top-of-the-line massage chair with many endorsements from public professionals and celebrities
  • One of the first smart massage chairs, equipped with a touch screen remote and voice responder
  • Noise reduction technology
  • Zero Gravity

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Body scan may take a while (you can save the data so it doesn’t scan every time)

Human Touch Novo Full Body Zero Gravity Chair

Human Touch is a company that aims to build massage chairs that mimic real massage therapists.

And boy does it do a good job. Although I do expect it too as it is pretty pricey.

This is the only chair I’ve seen on the market that is endorsed by the World Federation of Chiropractic.

Features include:

  • 5-year PREMIUM warranty
  • Full Body Stretch
  • LCD Remote
  • Bluetooth speakers
  • Accommodates 5’0 to 6’9 and 300 lbs weight capacity
  • Multiple language options
  • Zero Gravity
  • Shiatsu Massage

The Novo looks futuristic. It’s got a space pod type of shape to it.

It has a pretty standard L-track roller system.

The leather is not genuine like Luraco but is made up of Soft Hyde PU leather. It’s very soft to the touch.

Of course, it has zero gravity capability. Also, there is the ability to extend the leg portion by using the remote. This is newer technology as other chairs have used a spring-loaded leg extension.

You can set your height on the remote and the massage chair will automatically adjust the rollers so they hit important spots on your body.

The stretching feature of Novo is what I like the most about it. The airbag clamps on your legs and the leg massager moves downward and upward to give you a very nice stretch.

Pros:

  • Comes fully assembled
  • Heat
  • Simple LCD Remote
  • strong shiatsu-style massage
  • Wireless Bluetooth speakers

Cons:

  • Pricey
  • Heavy
  • Need wide enough doors to carry through

RelaxOnChair MK-II PLUS

Many massage chair brands are a little behind in terms of technology, customer support, and website. Relaxonchair is not.

It is the only brand that has a massage chair buyer’s guide on its website. The guide tells you everything you need to know about their chairs.

Their massage chairs are affordable compared to what you’ve seen.

They also have the highest rating among the highest volume of reviews.

Features Include:

  • L-track system
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • 4 automatic programs, 5 manual
  • Computer Body Scan
  • One-hand remote
  • Lumbar heating

It has 5 different massage types: Shiatsu, Tapping, Kneading, Knocking, and Kneading & Tapping. It’s great to have variety because you get bored if there is only one type.

3 different stages of zero gravity. The third position elevates your legs above your heart.

The computerized body scan pinpoints the length of your spine so the rollers don’t go past your head.

The standard L-track will massage down to your bottom.

It comes fully assembled except for the footrest which is easy to connect.

This is our best massage chair for under $2000.

Relaxonchair’s customer support is top-notch. They resolve particular issues immediately.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Comes assembled
  • High-end features like zero gravity, heating, LCD remote, multiple auto programs
  • White Glove Service (can opt-out)

Cons:

  • Foot massage is strong
  • Remote backlit is not bright
  • Noisy

Infinity Massage Chairs IT-8500X3

What If I told you there are 3D massage chairs?

What does 3D even mean? It means that the rollers not only go up and down and side to side. It also goes forward and back so you can get a deep tissue massage.

Infinity IT-8500 X3 has exactly that: 3D technology.

Infinity is one of the brands that care deeply about customers’ mental and physical health.

It’s also the only brand on the market that can be controlled by an iOS or an Android App.

Features Include:

  • Air Compression Technology
  • S-Track
  • 3D massage
  • Lumbar Heat
  • App functionality

There’s nothing super special looking about the IT-8500 X3. Diving into their feature, however, is when the distinction gets apparent.

The seating pad is another airbag and sways you side to side. It moves your butt side to side.

Decompression stretch relieves tension by independently moving the footrest.

Reflexology foot rollers apply pressure points at specific parts of the foot that correspond to healthier organs and other parts of the body.

Body scanning technology ensures a personal massage experience.

0% interest financing and a 5-year residential limited warranty available.

  • Decompression stretch, Reflexology, Lumbar Heat, Blue tooth, Body Scanning.
  • USA-based customer and technical support
  • Free replacement parts for the first 36 months

Cons:

  • Expensive

Can massage chairs hurt you?

Massage chairs vary in strength. People who receive massages vary in sensitivity. Because of this discrepancy, massage chairs may end up hurting you.

However, the first few times on a massage chair may hurt due to not being used to it. There are a lot of muscles that are worked and your body may not be used to it. It is similar to working out or engaging in physical activity for the first time in a couple of months. You might feel uncomfortable and sore but that is perfectly normal.

What isn’t normal is bone-crushing foot massagers. We’ve noticed that some brands have really strong foot massagers. It’s advised to dampen this with a towel.

Often you may not be able to try a massage chair before you make a purchase. In this case, we recommend reading critical reviews of the massage chair (The good ones are not as reliable because they can be paid to leave positive reviews).

Is a Massage Chair Good for Your Health?

A massage chair is good for your health in many ways.

An experiment was conducted by Dr. Michael Olpin from Weber State University on this exact matter. The results are astonishing…

Out of 521 participants, the average stress level reported was 4.3 out of 10. After using a massage chair the participants reported an average stress level of 2.4.

The average blood pressure went from (114,76) to (110, 73). The average heart rate dropped from 76 to 70.

Massage chairs can also relieve muscle tension by hitting those pressure points.

Massages are often used during cancer treatment to reduce pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, and depression.

Luraco chairs are used in VA (Veteran Affairs) hospitals.
