Welcome to my review of the JPMedics Kumo Massage Chair! Before I get into the features of this amazing chair, I want to discuss who JPMedics are as a company first.
Who Are JPMedics?
JPMedics started as a health and wellness brand in 1996. They are a Japanese brand which started off exporting and importing health and massage products such as foot massagers, massage pillows, and massage chairs.
The quality and advanced technology of the products they dealt with meant they became very popular very quickly.
Today, JPMedics is mostly known for their massage chairs, which are considered some of the best massage chairs in the world. This is due to the fact that they are highly sophisticated massage chairs with cutting-edge Japanese technology.
Many of the designs are inspired by the simplicity and high quality that is at the forefront of Japanese culture, which translates into a seamless user experience.
In this article, I will be reviewing one of JPMedic’s most popular massage chairs, the Kumo. “Kumo” means “cloud” in Japanese, it symbolises lightness, beauty and simplicity.
Read on to find out about the features, pros and cons of this amazing massage chair.

It features 4D massage rollers with an advanced L-Track roller system.
It also offers zero-gravity features and reflexology foot rollers.
The recommended weight for users is about 265lbs.
Moreover, it provides multiple settings with numerous massages styles, including Thai, Chinese, Swedish, Japanese, and many more. This chair is very versatile, with a max massage time of 30 minutes.
The manufacturer offers a three-year full coverage warranty at no cost at all and an extended warranty for additional two years.

Features and Benefits
Here is a closer look at the stand-out features of the Kumo massage chair.
Aesthetic Looks and Space Saving
Kumo Massage chair has a sophisticated design and features a synthetic leather upholstery with beautiful pleated accents and Kumo’s signature trim. It is available in a number of neutral tones so you can select the one that most suits your interior.
Unlike other massage chairs that can be bulky and require a lot of space particularly when they recline, the Kumo can fit in all types of rooms no matter how small or cramped the space may be.
This is because the base slides forward when it reclines, meaning that it only requires five inches of space behind its backrest to operate.
Easily Accessible Touchscreen
The Kumo comes with a user friendly seven-inch touchscreen tablet that gives you the chair’s controls at your fingertips. From the tablet you can easily select the kind of massage you want, set up or select a custom massage to target specific areas of your body, or change the orientation of the chair from upright to reclining.
You can even choose between five pre-programmed languages including English, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean.
If the touchscreen wasn’t enough, the Kumo also features a master smart control dial and buttons on one of the armrests.
You can use these to adjust the intensity of your massage without disrupting any other settings.
This massage chair features multiple sensors that detect and map your body shape and size. The A.R.M microprocessor in the chair then processes this information in real time and enables the chair to adjust its massage to suit your body specifically.
I think this is an incredible feature because it not only allows the chair to provide an extremely realistic massage – as if a real life therapist were giving you a massage – but it also means that many different people can use the chair and enjoy a soothing massage without having to re-adjust the settings for their body shape each time.
This chair features 64 airbags that are strategically placed at different locations inside it. These bags inflate and deflate at different times, resulting in compressions on your body that help to soothe and relax different muscle groups.
64 is a really high number of airbags for a massage chair, giving the user a massage that can be highly tailored to target every muscle.
Heated Knee Therapy
The Kumo massage chair is one of the world’s first chairs to offer 3D knee technology. This technology uses air compression and heat therapy feature to massage your knees.
This feature makes the Kumo an excellent choice for those suffering from sore or aching knees, or those who regularly do exercises that put strain on the knees such as skiing or running.
4D Heated Rollers
The Kumo massage chair is equipped with 4D Thermo rollers that protrude by 3 inches out of the chair, and run 1.5 inches apart. The rollers also emit heat, mimicking the feel of a real human hand as closely as possible.
The 4D rollers are positioned in such a way to target acupuncture areas and nerve clusters to release, soothe and reset the muscles all over your body.
Not only that, but the heat generated by the rollers further relieves aches and pains. Very few massage chairs come close to offering this kind of realistic, full body experience.
Full L-Track Coverage
If the 4D rollers alone weren’t enough, they operate on a 44 inch L track. This allows the rollers to reach many points on your body, including the neck, shoulders, mid-back, and lower back.
The chair is also equipped with high-quality surround sound Bluetooth speakers. This allows you to connect the speakers to your smartphone or any smart device you like to play your favorite music, relaxing spa music or even ambient ocean or rainforest sounds.
The main reason why I like Bluetooth connectivity in a massage chair is because it saves me from having to wear headphones that can otherwise get in the way of the massage or make it uncomfortable to lean on the headrest.
Ultimately, the purpose of a massage chair is to provide a thorough, deep and relieving massage for the user, and the JPMedic Kumo certainly delivers on that.
The combination of the body sensors, 4D heated rollers, the 44-inch L track, 64 airbags, knee massager and foot roller provides a massage that feels as close as possible to an actual masseuse’s hands.
I haven’t come across another massage chair that provides such an advanced massage, and I’ve been in this industry for a long time!
Another pro is how well thought out the extras on the chair are. The control tablet is intuitive to use and makes it very straight forward to program the massage you want.
The Bluetooth speakers allow you to zone out to calming music, and the LED light therapy creates a soothing ambiance around the chair.
I also love how the designers have thought about space, and made the chair comfortable while taking up as little space in the room as possible.
All these fantastic features come at a price, and the first con for this chair is how expensive it is. It’s definitely priced at the top of the market.
In addition, it only offers one zero-gravity recline position, unlike many other similar massage chairs that typically offer two or three.
