BEST MASSAGE CHAIR FOR LARGER PEOPLE:
Welcome to our article about the best massage chairs for larger people!
Before we dive into our favorite models, let’s first discuss why you might want to consider a bigger massage chair in the first place.
Best Massage Chair For Larger People – Introduction
There’s a problem with the majority of massage chairs…
THEY.ARE.TOO.SMALL!
Most massage chairs cannot fit a 6 foot 250 lb man. According to MedicalNewsToday, the average 20-year-old man weighs 197.6 pounds, stands 5 feet 9 inches, and has a waist circumference of 40 inches.
Let’s face it, Americans are taller and wider; thus, we need the appropriate massage chairs to accommodate us.
The worst part about buying a massage chair is that it’s hard to return. It’s even harder to try it before you buy it (because most don’t have a storefront conveniently located nearby)…
So we want to help you. We have done extensive research to present a curated list of the best massage chairs for bigger and taller people.
Let’s begin.
Real Relax 2022
It is popular because it’s super affordable and can seat bigger people. It can hold up to 400 lbs.
It is one of the cheapest zero-gravity chairs you can find on the market. Although keep in mind that it does not have a track and roller system. Instead, it has 8 fixed massage points that vibrate and move in a circular motion.
Real Relax 2022 can accommodate up to 6 feet 1 inch, 400 lbs, and has a 20-inch wide seating.
A great feature is that the backrest and footrest operate independently. So you can recline one but not the other…

When asked, the staff at Kahuna said that their biggest accommodating massage chair was the SM 7300…
But wait a minute. What about the SM 7300S? Well…
It turns out the headrest design on the 7300S makes it less fitting for people with bulky upper bodies.
Kahuna is a big player in the massage industry. It’s a very reputable brand and it’s got chairs that are sized for big American-sized users.
The Kahuna SM 7300 can accommodate up to 320 lbs; 6 feet 5 inches

Titan Pro Jupiter XL
If you want to talk about big massage chairs, you can’t talk about the Titan Pro Jupiter XL. I think the name of the chair speaks for itself.
Titan/Osaki is one of the industry’s most prolific massage chair brands. They got a big warehouse in Texas and a huge engineering team to build them.
Titan’s customer service advised that this is their biggest accommodation chair.
Why buy Jupiter?
- XL sizing. Made for bigger and taller people
- NASA-borrowed technology: zero gravity feature makes you feel like you’re floating in the air and decompresses the spine
- Sophisticated airbag system located in the head, hip, arm, shoulder, calf, and feet
- A ton of adjustability/customization available
How and what to look for when buying a massage chair for a bigger person
Buying a massage chair online is risky, especially if the chair is bigger than average.
If you don’t like it, it might cost you a 20% restocking fee + shipping to return it. At the very least, it’s a huge hassle to disassemble and carry it outside.
So…
Here are some things to look out for when browsing through product descriptions.
Weight Limitation
Most massage chairs have a weight limit. During manufacturing, the quality assurance team will test and approve the weight capacity stated in the product description.
Although you can probably surpass the weight limit of a chair by more than a couple of pounds, we recommend you adhere to them for safety reasons.
Weight capacity can range from 200 lbs to 500 lbs. We recommend erring on the side of caution by purchasing a chair that is 50 lbs above your current weight.
Height Limitation
The best way to find out if a chair can fit you is to ask a salesperson “What is the biggest accommodating chair you guys have?” This is what we did to come up with our list!
However… if you can’t for whatever reason,
Know that most massage chairs have height limitations. The rollers inside the chair can only go so high on the chair and the foot extension can only go far. It’s important to look for the height limit, which is usually readily available in the product description.
Automatic Body Scan
The automatic body scan is a feature that will scan your body using sensors and adjust the massage accordingly. Typically, this involves changing the stopping position of the roller as it gets higher on the track.
A lot of cheaper chairs do not have quality computerized body scans. It’s often faulty and consumers rarely feel the difference although they may be vastly different in shape and size.
We only recommend brands that are reputable and have proven technology. All of our chairs above are such brands.
Foot Extension
If a massage chair claims to accommodate taller people (over 6 feet 4 inches, let’s say) and it doesn’t have a leg extension, you can almost be certain that they are being untruthful about their height accommodation.
Some chairs have manual spring-loaded leg extensions and others have automatic leg extensions. We recommend automatic because it’s uncomfortable to constantly apply pressure to the bottom of the foot part, especially in zero gravity.
On the lower end will be 4 – 5 inches, and on the higher end, it will be 6 – 9 inches.
Seat Width And Depth
The part that restricts size in a massage chair is the seat width and depth. Unfortunately, these measurements are harder to find in product descriptions. Why? We’re not sure.
However, the average seat width is 20 inches. Some are wider and others are more narrow. If you’re bigger, try to get something wider than 20 inches. Also, it may help to grab a measuring tape and see how wide you are while sitting down.
Customer Reviews
Last but not least, read and look for customer reviews that specify the height and or weight.
Make sure to look for reviews that feel authentic and not one that rants about how good the chair is without any downsides.
